Corporate venture capital has grown significantly in recent years, but the “corporate” part can work against it, since these funds are prone to fall into bureaucracy, long decision processes, and less attractive investment terms that push them away from the best startups.

To talk about this, I invited Rodolfo Diek, Managing Partner of Proeza Ventures, a corporate venture capital fund that invests in mobility startups, belonging to Grupo Proeza, a Mexican business group with 70 years of experience in agriculture, health, and manufacturing businesses, including Metalsa, a leading auto parts manufacturing company.

Rodolfo and I talked about:

  • When it does and does not make sense for a corporation to set up a venture capital fund
  • How to prepare and design a corporate venture fund
  • How a corporation can attract the best startups
  • And the right moment to seek investment from a corporate VC
