What we do not do
The site has no accounts and no login. It runs no advertising network and sells no data. The newsletter forms that appear inside some older articles submit straight to Substack, so your email address never passes through a Startupeable server.
Silicon Valley @ LatAm list
If you sign up at startupeable.com/svlatam we store your email address, the city you chose, the date and, if you arrived from a campaign link, where you came from. It is kept in a Cloudflare database that can only be read from our account. We use it to tell you about gatherings in your city and for nothing else. To leave the list, write to hola@startupeable.com.
Visitor identification
We use RB2B, which attempts to identify visitors located in the United States and tells us their professional profile. It does not attempt this with visitors from anywhere else.
When you visit or log in to our website, cookies and similar technologies may be used by our online data partners or vendors to associate these activities with other personal information they or others have about you, including by association with your email. We (or service providers on our behalf) may then send communications and marketing to these email addresses. You may opt out of receiving this advertising by visiting https://app.retention.com/optout.
That opt-out is the operative one: app.retention.com/optout.
Measurement
We use Cloudflare Web Analytics to count visits. It sets no cookies and stores nothing on your device: it measures the visit, not the person. That is why this site has never asked you to accept anything.
Third parties the site loads
Loading a page from these providers means your IP address reaches them, which is how the web works and is worth stating plainly:
- Cloudflare: hosting, server logs, the traffic measurement described above, the database behind the list, and Turnstile, which checks that a person is submitting the /svlatam form.
- Google Fonts: the typefaces load from Google on every page.
- Spotify, YouTube, Captivate: the players embedded in episodes. YouTube is embedded in its no-cookie mode.
- Substack: the newsletter, which lives entirely on their platform under their privacy policy.
- RB2B: described above.
Your options
You can opt out of visitor identification at the link above. Your browser can block third-party scripts, and most do so on request. If you want to know what we hold about you, or want it deleted, write to hola@startupeable.com and we will answer.
