The audio and video are in Spanish. These notes are a translation.

A couple of years ago, it was very hard to stay informed about what was happening in the fascinating world of startups in Latin America, because there were no specialized outlets covering the progress of startups in our region, such as the latest investment rounds, product launches, partnerships, and more. In this context, and pardon the play on words, Contxto was born, one of the main online news outlets of the Latin American startup ecosystem.

Contxto’s story had the ups and downs of a startup, and in less than 2 years it went from becoming the leading outlet to stopping operations at the end of 2020. Luckily for us, a couple of months ago, Contxto came back. And today we spoke with Victor Cortés, its cofounder and former CEO, to learn more about the story, why he decided to step aside, and the lessons in entrepreneurship and content marketing that he took from this process. Today, Victor is also Director of Content at Tribal Credit and the creator of the Tracción podcast.
